Chicago Winter Social Equals Bowling Plus Deep-Dish Pizza
How bowling and pizza unified this Chicago congregation

ILLINOIS—Forty-six members of the Chicago congregation gathered at Wood Dale Lanes bowling alley for a 10-pin bowling social and pizza party on the night of January 31.

Adults, teens and children alike participated, with the small children bowling with the aid of bumpers and cheering parents.

After about an hour of bowling, caterers delivered 12 Chicago-style pizzas, filling the bowling alley with the aroma of cheese and garlic.

While the members feasted on deep-dish pies, they continued to bowl for another hour or so, knocking down every pin possible.

“Bowling gives us opportunity to share skill, fun, laughter and bonding. And the pizza made the night awesome!” member Emerito Capalad said.

“It was wonderful to spend time with the brethren outside of the Sabbath,” member Demetra Couris said. “It helped keep us closely knit together as our family should be.
