Warwick Members ‘Move Up’ at Annual Picnic
Batter up!

RHODE ISLAND—Thirty Philadelphia Church of God members from the Warwick congregation and one visitor from Nevada picnicked on June 14 at the Lincoln Woods State Park.

Within a few minutes of arrival, members set up a volleyball net and organized a leisurely game. As more members arrived, some quickly put down their items and joined the game. Others prepared to barbecue.

After the meal, Preaching Elder Greg Nice coordinated a “move-up” softball game. After each out, players rotated to the next position, giving everyone a chance at batting and fielding every position.

Maine member John Gato said the softball game was the highlight of his day. “We had great participation, and we didn’t even bother to keep score,” he said.

Massachusetts member Joseph Parisi said he enjoyed watching the teens improve in each sport throughout the day and called it “the best picnic ever!”

Those who did not play cheered and encouraged the players as they moved up, played chess and Scrabble, tossed beanbags, and had water-balloon fights.

“I value each and every picnic we have as a congregation,” member Christine Szabo said. “Time together is so precious.”

“This year’s picnic was blessed from beginning to end!” Gato said. “It’s always a great opportunity to grow closer as a congregation, and I look forward to it every year.”
