The Enthusiastic Next Generation
PCG youth are a significant part of the church’s makeup, representing a large portion of the church and extending from California to Perth and Buckinghamshire to Gautang. Remembering that Jesus placed special emphasis on the young, the church serves its youth in a variety of ways.
The Philadelphia Church of God sponsors annual youth camps in the United States, Australia and the Philippines, as well as regional campouts, family activities and talent exhibitions. These activities can vary greatly, but they all have the same goal in mind: expanding opportunities for personal growth, exciting experiences and godly fun. Through these activities, PCG youth maintain tight friendships that enable them to remain focused on living God’s way of life and to avoid the pitfalls so common among today’s youth. These friendships, which span continents and oceans in many cases, are a critical part of the PCG youth’s life.
The church also publishes a magazine specifically for church youth, called True Education. This magazine contains a dynamic biblical point of view and is a favorite among the church’s young people.
Individual congregations hold regular teen Bible studies and grade-school-age Bible classes, as well as hosting other youth-oriented events. Many young people also volunteer to serve in their local congregation, whether it be helping to set up chairs or learning how to operate the sound system.
Qualified high school graduates can attend Herbert W. Armstrong College, a privately supported co-educational institution located at the headquarters campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. Here, young men and women take courses in theology, liberal arts and applied arts and sciences in preparation for worthwhile lifelong service to God and humanity.
Whether they are running microphone cords before church services, listening attentively during a teen Bible study, or spraying a hose at a fund-raiser car wash, PCG teens are the enthusiastic, up-and-coming generation of the Church.
