Northeastern Members Picnic Lakeside
International board games, pie-making and s’mores

NEW JERSEY—Sixty-five Philadelphia Church of God members from New England to Pennsylvania gathered at a campground in Hope to play, picnic and fellowship on August 10.

Generations mixed for splashing and water games at the pool. Other activities included a Jamaican board game, Mexican dominoes, chess, volleyball, canoeing and basketball.

The congregation also held its first pie-making contest. Three judges determined the top three pies out of the nine entries. Barbara Street took third place, Colin Schultz took second, and Mrs. Rose Szabo placed first.

“It was the first time I tried that recipe,” Mrs. Szabo said.

After dusk, several members stayed for the annual bonfire and s’mores.

Member Barbara Street said, “Activities like the picnic help to bring us together in a special way. … It is always a highlight of summer and leaves us on a spiritual high.”
