Milton Pine Car Derby Takes Flight
Canada congregation adds a twist to pine car tradition.

CANADA—Around 65 members of the Milton and London, Ontario congregations of the Philadelphia Church of God attended a pine car derby and silent auction on Dec. 26, 2015, that sported a unique theme.

The regular Milton meeting hall was transformed into the inside of a jumbo airliner with the theme “pcg Airlines Flight 26.” Thirty-four cars were decorated, lubricated, and ready to entertain the passengers, who were seated by rows around the track. Members were also invited to visit the “airline shopping center,” a silent auction to raise money for the building fund.

Local teens dressed as flight attendants also made their way through the cabin passing out “in-flight snacks” of cookies, pretzels, water and juice.

Teen Savana Fuller said, “Being a flight attendant was a great experience. Especially dressing up and pushing around a cart full of complementary drinks and snacks!”

The evening ended with the final rounds of races. Prizes were awarded for first, second and third place in the categories of speed and creativity.

“It was a really fun and unique night,” member Laskey Hart said. “The concept of the derby being the in-flight-entertainment really made the whole night a completely different pine car derby experience!”
