Arkansas Members Celebrate Mother’s Day at State Park

ARKANSAS—Members from the Central and Northwest Arkansas congregations of the Philadelphia Church of God celebrated Mother’s Day on May 14 at Petit Jean State Park, Arkansas’s first state park.

Accompanied by Associate Pastor Joseph Short, Local Elder Robert Brown and his wife, the 38 members ate a traditional picnic meal at a private pavilion in a setting of streams, woods and mountains.

“A comfortable, warm family atmosphere was fertile ground for robust Christian fellowship,” Mr. Short said.

Activities included horseshoes, baseball, table games and rock climbing. Several members also hiked to see the 95-foot-tall Cedar Falls.

Speaking of the dry, 80-degree climate, Bertha Zoellner said, “It was one of the nicest picnics we’ve ever had. The weather was perfect.”
