You Can Understand the Bible!

What is the greatest book you have ever read? For one who strives to follow God, that book is the Bible! And yet many people struggle to understand the Bible. Is it just history? Does it only relate to Israel? Is it outdated in today’s modern society? Does it give you answers to your most pressing questions?

The Bible is our essential guidebook. But we need to understand it. In Acts 8, Philip encountered an Ethiopian eunuch of great authority. This man had charge of all the treasure of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians.

This eunuch was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah. He was reading the Bible! But he didn’t understand it.

“Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him” (Acts 8:29-31).

What an excellent attitude! This man knew he couldn’t understand the Bible unless someone taught him. And he wanted to learn! He didn’t try to guess at what the Bible meant. He didn’t disregard it either. He wanted to understand. Do you want to understand the Bible?

Herbert W. Armstrong died on Jan. 16, 1986. In the final year of his life, he wrote a book that will guide you in your Bible study. This book is Mystery of the Ages.

Notice what Mr. Armstrong wrote in the Author’s Statement: “I learned that the Bible is like a jigsaw puzzle—thousands of pieces that need putting together—and the pieces will fit together in only one way. Then the picture becomes crystal clear to the one willing to believe what God our Creator says. This present book merely puts the many pieces of the great puzzle together so they can be clearly understood.”

Mr. Armstrong encouraged readers to study Mystery of the Ages along with their Bibles. You will find this book is written in a way that is very plain and understandable. The whole intention behind Mystery of the Ages is to help you understand the truth of your Bible.

Mystery of the Ages covers seven mysteries that are essential for you to understand. First, you will learn who and what God is. Once you understand that truth, you will go on to learn what the Bible says about angels and evil spirits. Further, you will see why man was created. You will learn how civilization developed, why God chose Israel, the purpose of the Church and the mystery of the Kingdom of God.

What price would you put on this knowledge? It is priceless information! Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:8, “[F]reely ye have received, freely give.” Mystery of the Ages is offered to you free of charge!
