MINNESOTA—On the weekend of June 18-19, the Waconia congregation held a garage sale fundraiser.

Although there were rainstorms and only half the number of items compared to previous years, dedicated members overcame obstacles and shortages with prayers and hard work.

“Everything was so organized, it made you want to buy things,” said Desiree Mofokeng, who recently moved to the area from South Africa.

“The income from the sale was amazing, considering how few items we had,” Candy Fiskewold said. Gross sales came to $2,011.

The congregation was later rewarded with beautiful weather for its annual picnic on July 13 at Baylor Regional Park. Deacon Bob Lilleboe said the weather was “perfect.”

Babies played on blankets with parents and visiting grandparents conversing nearby. Several children played with giant beach balls in the water and competed in burlap bag races. Senior members played cards and enjoyed conversation. A picnic lunch followed.

After lunch, Preaching Elder Eric Anderson led a trail hike over wetlands and through shaded woods. More games and conversation followed the hike. Some members stayed as late as 7 p.m. before heading home.
